Amanda Freeman is founder and CEO of SLT (Strengthen Lengthen Tone), which has 25 locations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. SLT employs more than 175 instructors and staff, and generates $20 million annually. She’s also co-founder of Stretch*d, a one-on-one assisted stretch space that poses the question, “Why stretch yourself, when we can do it for you?” to all kinds of tight New Yorkers.
A graduate of Duke University and Harvard Business School, Freeman started her career as a market researcher, consultant and trend forecaster at The Intelligence Group and Creative Artists Agency (CAA). In 2007, she co-founded Vital Juice, a health and wellness daily e-newsletter focused on delivering the latest in trends, research and tips in the areas of fitness, beauty, nutrition and wellness. Having amassed more than 250,000 subscribers in top-tier cities and growing at an annual rate of 150% a year, Freeman sold her stake in the company to Tasting Table in 2012.
Freeman started SLT in 2011 because of a personal quest for a group fitness workout that scored her the results she was seeking – long, lean muscle tone. She started Stretch*d in 2018 because she observed the drastically different approach clients had to self-stretching (avoid it) and one-on-one stretching with a trainer.
She’s is also an angel investor with a particular focus on female-founded businesses and health and wellness brands. Her investments include Female Founders Fund, The Wing, Carbon 38, Wthn, Talent Hack, Alma, The Wonder and 305 Fitness.
