Eliza Whiteman

Eliza is the co-founder and director of FlyDog Yoga in Charlottesville, Virginia. She is a E-RYT 500, Tier 3 Baptiste Teacher and former collegiate athlete at Auburn University. It was through sports that she learned the value of team work and the power of community to lift one another up which has led FlyDog Yoga to be recognized as one of the top yoga studios in Virginia- serving thousands of people monthly through various classes, workshops and trainings. As a result of FlyDog Yoga’s success, Eliza was chosen as a 2017 Tory Burch Foundation Fellow for women entrepreneurs.

Eliza found her yoga practice at a time when she felt lost and alone when her husband left for a year long active duty military deployment. Yoga literally and figuratively showed her that she could hold herself up all on her own. She strives to give her students this same feeling of belonging, possibility and empowerment.

In addition to business ownership, Eliza is involved in public speaking, the MilSpo Project (Military Spouse), Yoga Teacher & Leadership Trainings as well as various workshops and trainings. Eliza’s commitment to service reaches beyond her immediate yoga community and includes international, national and local non-profits such as Africa Yoga Project, Veterans Yoga Project, VETOGA and various local military and first responder organizations.

Eliza lives in the Charlottesville, Virginia area with her husband/business partner Brad and their four children.
