Lema Khorshid is one of the founding partners at Fuksa Khorshid, LLC where she has handled a wide range of legal matters for small to mid-sized closely held businesses in Chicago and New York for the last ten years. She frequently assists her business clients with corporate transactional and intellectual property matters. As a passion advocate for entrepreneurs, Lema speaks two-three times a month at Small Business Development Centers all over Chicago to entrepreneurs on a myriad of legal issues that impact their businesses.
Prior to being a partner at Fuksa Khorshid, LLC, Lema spent over seven years consulting hospitality, fashion and entertainment clients on their branding and public relations strategies and initiatives in Chicago and New York. Drawing on her unique career experiences in Europe, she co-founded her own company in 2001, servicing high profile clients in the entertainment, fashion and hospitality industries in Chicago and New York. In 2003, her company gained national recognition when it was featured on MTV’s Real World Chicago. For many years after that, she was frequently featured on local television stations for her branding insights.
Currently, Lema sits on the Board of Directors for the River North Business Association and the Advisory Board for the Women’s Business Development Center. She has chaired several large scale fundraisers to support arts and cultural initiatives in underprivileged communities and has raised thousands of dollars to support educational initiatives for entrepreneurs. In 2008, she was featured in the Wall Street Journal for her entrepreneurial initiatives. In 2009, the Business Ledger named her as one of 22 influential women in business in Chicago. In 2013, Lema received a feature article in Chicago Social Magazine for her philanthropic endeavors.
For the past eleven years, she has chaired a beauty event at Neiman Marcus for professional men and women, drawing over 250-300 executives, professionals and entrepreneurs to her initiative, the BizOver, twice a year.
Lema received two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in Finance and Marketing, with a concentration in International Business and Italian (2000). She received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law in Chicago (2004). Lema is proficient in Arabic, French, and Italian.
During her time away from the office, Lema loves international travel, trying new restaurants and has a penchant for fashion and film.
